The art of being comfortable in your own skin
Bodyology believes that everyone should feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. No matter who you are, your skin can always use a little help to reach its gorgeous potential, and facials are a great way to accomplish that. Using the latest technology combined with the body’s own natural healing capacity, we can deliver outstanding results. Here are some facts about PRP Biofacial, facial infusion, and microneedling facials.
Benefits of Facials
It is no surprise that you frequently read about celebrities having facials, particularly before red carpet events. Their faces are their business, and they put in the work to reduce the effects of heavy makeup and sun damage, and to keep signs of aging at bay. There are many positive benefits to having regular facials:
- Healthier skin
- Youthful glow
- Intense hydration
- Professional treatment
Healthy skin is a product of proper nutrition, healthy habits, and preventive maintenance. A diet full of antioxidant foods, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, using sunblock, not smoking, and keeping alcohol to a minimum are all keys to helping your skin age well. However, even with all of that, there are still things that you can do to roll back or slow down some of the effects of sun damage and aging.
The specific benefits and results our clients can expect depend on the type of facial they receive, and include a decreased appearance of puffiness, improved blood flow, and increased cell turnover, all of which provide a youthful glow. Clients can also look forward to a reduction in fine lines, improvements in areas of skin sagging, and an overall more hydrated appearance to their face. Preventative facials (starting at a younger age before signs of aging occur) are a smart way to stay ahead of the game, delay the need for more intensive treatments later on, and keep people guessing your real age.
Types of Treatments
At Bodyology, we utilize advance, professional techniques that keep our clients skin looking radiant, young, and supple. Our Nurse Practitioner and skilled staff always provide clients with a face-to-face consultation prior to any facial so that specific issues with the skin can be discussed, as well as make suggestions of which treatment (or combined treatments) would work best to achieve desired results.
What it is:
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Whole blood is spun down to separate the red blood cells from the platelets. Platelets contain the ability to stimulate the creation of new skin cells (think “cell turnover” if this concept is hard to understand). The powerful platelet mixture is then infused into the face using a patented microneedle and light suction application. The tiny microneedles create microscopic holes that allow the platelet serum to infuse into your skin rather than simply sit on top where it is unable to regenerate new cells. With PRP Biofacial, there is little to no downtime, and clients are able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
What it does:
Signs of aging (fine lines, age spots, dark under-eye circles) show different degrees of improvement after a single PRP treatment. Clients also report a reduction in deep set wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, and forehead (these results are more profound with multiple PRP treatments). Signs of past trauma that the face has endured (acne scarring and hyperpigmentation) can also be made less noticeable thanks to the PRP facial.
What it is:
Facial infusions use a variety of ingredients to provide what the skin craves the most. We have six different nutrient-rich formulas to choose from, depending on our clients particular needs: Rejuvenate, Hydrate, Lighten, Clarify, Growth Factor, and Vitamin C. These healing and collagen-stimulating infusions are delivered into deeper layers of the skin thanks to the same microneedle and light suction technology utilized by the PRP facial.
What it does:
Facial infusions are a wonderful maintenance program for the skin. Done monthly, the small, but beneficial, microneedle effect of the infusion brush head encourages collagen production, removal of pore clogging debris, and the ability to penetrate serums deeper than typical application to the top layer of the skin. The ability to choose from multiple formulas give clients the freedom to target their specific skin issues, whether its uneven skin tone, or dull appearing skin.
What it is:
In microneedling, a small motorized head containing fine needles, is brushed along the skin using a hyaluronic gel to ensure that tiny holes, not tears, are being produced where the brush is applied. The tiny holes, that are purposefully created, stimulate the body to create collagen. Collagen gives skin the firm, lifted appearance seen in young children and teens, but that begins to fade in the mid 20’s. The more collagen the face has, the less pronounced issues such as deep-set wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging are. A microneedling facial can also be considered the treatment that “keeps on giving”; the collagen stimulation caused by microneedles in the skin continue to be seen for up to three months after treatment.
What it does:
Microneedling is beneficial in the treatment of acne scars, sun damage, dark under-eye circles, uneven skin tone, and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment has benefits that go beyond the face. Microneedling is also effective in treating old surgical scars or scars caused by trauma. Microneedling can also be a combined treatment and paired with the PRP facial, giving clients an even more dramatic result.
